About the Blade
Crafted with dedication, this blade uses 1095 steel, renowned in sword-making for its supreme carbon content of .95%. This sets it apart from the commonly used 1045 steel, which only holds .45% carbon. Renowned for its impeccable edge retention, the 1095 steel stands with a hardness between 56-58 HRC. Its intrinsic rigidity, however, made it a challenge to ensure flexibility – an essential trait for preventing breakage upon impact.
Our solution? The art of clay tempering. We employed a technique where clay is meticulously applied to specific portions of the blade, regulating its cooling during the quenching phase. For this masterpiece, clay is excluded from the blade's edge, ensuring it retains its sharpness while allowing the rest of the blade to be more flexible. The culmination of this process is a blade that strikes a balance between strength and sharpness, making it a marvel in sword craftsmanship.
