Short Swords
Before the longsword ruled, the short sword did: quick, one-handed blades built for close work, from the Roman legionary's gladius to the Greek hoplite's xiphos. This collection gathers every short sword we make, roughly 17 to 28 inches, including Viking and Celtic patterns, the renaissance cinquedea, and straight Damascus short swords. Our Damascus and 1095 high carbon blades are hand forged; steel is listed on each piece.
How to choose: 18 to 24 inches is the classic historical range, easy to display and easy to handle. Pick by tradition first: Roman and Greek patterns anchor an ancient kit beside a shield, the Viking short sword pairs with the seax family, and if you find yourself wanting more reach, the gladius collection and Greek swords go deeper on the ancient side.
