Accessibility

Battling Blades wants every customer to be able to browse, learn about and buy our swords, knives, axes and armor, whatever tools or assistive technology they use. This page explains what we do to make battlingblades.com accessible, where the limits are, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely used for online stores. Accessibility is ongoing work rather than a finished state, and we review the site and fix problems as we find them or as customers report them.

What we have done

  • The site can be navigated with a keyboard alone. The shopping cart opens as a dialog that receives focus, keeps focus inside it while open, closes with the Escape key and returns focus to where you were.
  • Cart changes are announced to screen readers, and each product in the cart is a single, clearly named link.
  • Headings follow a logical order on product, collection and article pages, and form fields such as contact and email sign-up have visible labels.
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text can be resized in the browser, and page layouts work on phones and at high zoom without sideways scrolling.
  • A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page lets keyboard users jump past the navigation.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site are provided by third-party services, including the returns portal, product reviews, product-option and customization tools, and the help center. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind and pass on problems we find, but we cannot always fix their code ourselves. If one of these areas does not work for you, contact us and we will help you complete the same task another way.

Help with an order

If any part of the site is hard to use, you can place an order, ask about a product, request a return or get any other help directly from our team:

Report an accessibility problem

If you find a page, feature or document that is not accessible, please tell us. Include the web address of the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. Email support@battlingblades.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. We respond within one business day and treat these reports as a priority.
