Description
Parang Machete: The Jungle Blade of Malaysia, Forged in Damascus
The parang is the machete of the Malay world, shaped by generations of use in some of the densest jungle on earth. Where the Latin machete is straight and fast, the parang curves: the edge sweeps in a shallow arc that meets hard, woody vegetation at a slicing angle instead of a flat slap. That geometry is why bushcrafters around the world have adopted the parang as the finest all-round jungle and camp blade ever developed. It bites deep into green wood, carves and feathers kindling with the section near the handle, and chops with the sweet spot forward of center.
This parang carries that traditional profile in hand-forged Damascus steel, with a 17" blade and the pattern's signature curved grip that keeps the edge tracking through the arc of the swing. At 24" overall it is the longest machete in our line.
Blade Craftsmanship
The blade is pattern-welded Damascus steel, forged from 11 pieces of steel folded five times into 352 layers. Layers of 1095 high carbon steel give the working edge its hardness, and the layered construction gives the blade the toughness the parang's chopping role demands. Finished hardness is 55-56 HRC on the Rockwell scale.
Handle
The traditional flared parang grip, executed over a full tang. The swell at the butt is not decoration: it lets the hand hold the blade loosely through the swing, the way the parang is meant to be used, without ever letting go. Handle finishes are shown in the photos.

Shipping & Returns
Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.
In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
If your item arrives damaged, incorrect, or defective, contact us with your order number and photos so we can review the issue.
