Bowie Knife Details
The Bowie knife, hunting, is a fixed-blade knife created by James Black in the early 19th century. This was founded in Arkansas, USA in reference to the legendary Jim Bowie. The Bowie knife is used to describe a wide range of hunting knives, although in common usage the term refers to any large sheath knife with a cross guard and a clip point. The knife pattern is still popular with collectors and hunters. Most modern versions of the Bowie knife a blade length between 6 and 12 inches, with a relatively broad blade with thick steel. The Bowie knife's design makes it the perfect hunting knife for skinning or butchering game. The curved top clip bevel of the blade, when suitably sharpened, may be used to remove the skin from a carcass, while the straight portion of the blade edge, toward the guard, can be used for cutting meat. All Battling Blades Bowie knives are extremely high quality knives, with exceptionally thick steel. These knives are used for hunting or display and are not intended or sold for use as a weapon.
The knife is made from Pattern welded Damascus steel. Pattern welded Damascus steel is a hard heat treated, folded carbon steel. There are 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, making 352 layers. The steel is the perfect combination of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. High carbon damascus steel must contain layers of high carbon steel. The high carbon steel we use is 1095 steel which is the highest content carbon steel used in swords. The combination of the steel layers creates a sword that is strong enough to hold a powerful edge while having the strength and flexibility to withstand powerful collisions. This makes the perfect steel for swords. The handle is wood and horn with Damascus steel bolsters. It comes with a leather sheath.

Bowie Knife- Hunting- High Carbon Damascus Steel Blade- Hunting Knife
This is the 2nd blade I've bought as a gift from Battling Blades. This one was unlike any bowie knife I've ever seen. It has multiple cutting surfaces in unusual angles that I could only describe as wicked. The damascus blade is thick, heavy and beautiful. The only complaint would be that the main cutting edge was not as sharp as the other surfaces. The good part is that it can be easily sharpened. I am thoroughly pleased and will keep looking at other knives & swords that Battling Blades sell since my wife asked me when I was going to buy one for myself?? She has a good point....
Very great blade! Love it! It's full tang. And boy is this blade thick. When you swing it comes in with force from he weight of the blade alone. Chops right through wood. And the edge stays unscathed. It's quite impressive!
They claim these aren’t battle ready. As a martial artist I disagree. The weapon is full tang and made of high quality quarter inch thick carbon steel. It will be your buddy during the apocalypse! The factory edge left some to be desired, though this is completely understandable . Right now my Bowie wants to cut through the sheath. For less than 70 dollars… five stars from a tough critic!
