Royal Rapier – 40" Damascus Steel
The Royal Rapier represents the refinement of European civilian swords during the late Renaissance, when the rapier had fully emerged as a weapon of precision, status, and personal defense. By the 16th and early 17th centuries, rapiers were closely associated with courts, officers, and gentlemen, serving both practical and symbolic roles in daily life.
Unlike earlier battlefield swords, the rapier emphasized reach, point control, and linear movement. Its long, narrow blade was designed primarily for thrusting, while the hilt evolved to provide increased hand protection during close, technical exchanges. These swords were worn openly, signaling education, discipline, and social standing as much as readiness.
This 40-inch Royal Rapier follows those established proportions, presenting a long, slender blade that prioritizes balance and authority. The extended length enhances reach while maintaining a controlled profile suitable for precise handling. The hilt features a protective guard consistent with classical rapier construction, reinforcing both function and visual presence.
The blade is forged from pattern-welded Damascus steel, displaying layered grain patterns created through repeated folding and forge-welding. This process produces a dense, unified blade with distinctive visual character. Each sword exhibits unique patterning, a natural result of Damascus steel construction.
Overall, the design favors clarity, symmetry, and restraint—qualities associated with rapiers carried in formal and civic settings rather than battlefield ornamentation.

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.
In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
