Longsword Description
The longsword, also known as the long sword or long-sword, is a traditional European weapon recognized for its cruciform hilt and straight, double-edged blade, designed for two-handed use. Predominantly used during the late medieval and Renaissance periods (circa 1350 to 1550), the longsword’s influence spanned from the 13th to the 17th century. The term "bastard sword" is often applied to the longsword of this era due to its versatility. Typically, longswords range between 33" and 45", but this particular longsword is slightly shorter with a total length of 32". The handle is made of wood, wrapped in premium leather, and reinforced by Damascus steel bolsters, providing both durability and a refined appearance. This longsword comes complete with a handmade leather sheath for stylish protection.
Blade Materials
This longsword is forged from 1095 high-carbon steel, a material known for its superior hardness and excellent edge retention. With a carbon content of 0.95%, 1095 steel ranks among the highest carbon steels used in swordsmithing, offering much greater hardness compared to the more common 1045 steel, which contains only 0.45% carbon. While 1095 steel is famed for its sharpness, its rigidity can make it vulnerable to breakage under high impact. To combat this, a traditional clay tempering process is used to enhance flexibility. Thick layers of clay are applied to the blade, except along the edge, insulating the parts intended to remain softer during the quenching process. This method creates a strong, razor-sharp edge while ensuring the rest of the blade is flexible enough to endure rigorous use, making this longsword both resilient and lethal.

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.
In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
If your item arrives damaged, incorrect, or defective, contact us with your order number and photos so we can review the issue.
