We use high-quality 1095 steel, the preferred choice for high carbon swords and recognized for its exceptional hardness. With a carbon content of 0.95%, 1095 steel sits at the top of the range, far surpassing the 0.45% found in common 1045 steel swords. This steel, known for its extraordinary edge retention and hardness of 56-58 HRC, is blended with softer steels to create an optimal balance of hardness and flexibility.
