The Viking Ulfberht Sword, a symbol of power and prestige, hails from the Early Middle Ages, prevalent in Western and Northern Europe. This extraordinary blade, famous for its role in the historic Battle of Stiklestad, reflects the courage and tenacity of the Viking people.

Drawing inspiration from the Roman Gladius, this single-handed sword boasts a sharp tip and edges designed for both slashing and thrusting. The Viking Ulfberht remained a weapon of choice until the 12th century, gradually evolving into the first iterations of the knightly Norman swords.

Our Ulfberht Sword's blade is forged from pattern-welded Damascus steel. This heat-treated, folded carbon steel comprises 11 pieces of steel, folded five times to create 352 layers. The result? A perfect blend of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC.

We use high carbon 1095 steel, the highest carbon content steel employed in sword crafting, to ensure our blade can sustain a sharp edge and withstand powerful impacts. The sword's handle, a work of art in itself, features wood wrapped in leather, complimented by Damascus steel bolsters.

Every Ulfberht Sword comes with a handcrafted leather sheath, reflecting our commitment to quality and attention to detail.

Worth it

I like most of you had a million questions about this sword. I will try to answer them. I ordered mine on 01/25/2023 and it arrived on 01/27/2023 so shipping was very fast. I read some of the other reviews about blades being bent etc and so I was a little worried. When it arrived the blade was straight as an arrow, the edges were very sharp, it is a pretty well balanced sword with mine having a center balance point about 8 inches from the guard. The sword swings well, has good flexibility in the blade, and is light enough to be maneuverable while still being heavy enough to let you know it's a real sword. The pattern welding on the blade is beautiful and real, it's not laser etched or anything. I have pretty wide hands and for me the handle was about 1 and 3/4 hand grip if you wanted to use 2 hands it would be possible especially if you had smaller hands. With that being said there are a few draw backs. The edges on the guard and pommel are quite angular and sharp, so a little bit of file work to take down those edges is needed. The leather wrapping on the handle although real is just wrapped and glued. So it might be advisable to either wrap some wire around the ends of the handle to help secure that glued edge if this is going to be a functional sword for you. There is no evidenced distel taper to the blade. The leather sheath that comes with this sword does leave something to be desired but does seem to be of okay quality and functional. Overall, I am very pleased with this sword. It met or exceeded all of my expectations for being a functional sword. I feel as though if this was the early middle ages this sword would be every bit battle ready right out of the package. I could not be more pleased with this sword and it is worth every bit of what I paid for it and then some. Now the only thing left to do is make a proper wooden and leather scabbard for it and then it will be ready for the summer raids. I hope this review has helped someone in there buying decision. It really is a steal for what they are asking.
