Bowie Knife- Outdoors- High Carbon Damascus Steel Blade- Hunting Knife - 12"
Bowie Knife Details
The Bowie knife, outdoors knife, is a fixed-blade knife created by James Black in the early 19th century. This was founded in Arkansas, USA in reference to the legendary Jim Bowie. The Bowie knife is used to describe a wide range of hunting knives, although in common usage the term refers to any large sheath knife with a crossguard and a clip point. The knife pattern is still popular with collectors and hunters. Most modern versions of the Bowie knife a blade length between 6 and 12 inches, with a relatively broad blade with thick steel. The Bowie knife's design makes it the perfect hunting knife for skinning or butchering game. The curved top clip bevel of the blade, when suitably sharpened, may be used to remove the skin from a carcass, while the straight portion of the blade edge, toward the guard, can be used for cutting meat. All Battling Blades Bowie knives are extremely high quality knives, with exceptionally thick steel. These knives are used for hunting or display and are not intended or sold for use as a weapon.
The knife is made from Pattern welded Damascus steel. Pattern welded Damascus steel is a hard heat treated, folded carbon steel. There are 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, making 352 layers. The steel is the perfect combination of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. High carbon damascus steel must contain layers of high carbon steel. The high carbon steel we use is 1095 steel which is the highest content carbon steel used in swords. The combination of the steel layers creates a sword that is strong enough to hold a po11erful edge while having the strength and flexibility to withstand powerful collisions. This makes the perfect steel for swords. The handle is wood and horn with Damascus steel bolsters. It comes with a leather sheath.

First I have to say the knife is beautifully made. Based on that alone it would garnish 5 stars. The problem is the handle is small and parts of it are sharp. It can be difficult to grasp. Once you get a comfortable hold on it, it remains comfortable. Another great quality blade from Battling Blades. For the record, I own 6 swords and 3 knives with another sword on order. If the quality and customer service wasn't there I would not keep purchasing from them. They make great items.
It is a very nice knife. The design is excellent and handle comfortable. My only complaint is that it wasn't quite sharp enough. It only took a few minutes at home to make perfect but it is an area for improvement.
Perfect bowie knife. Nothing else to say about that!
This is waht you want in a bowie knife. Also, the Damascus steel is incredible. Ditto with the "pretty scary" from the last review but I would say pretty scary in the quality for the price.
This is quite the bowie knife but the fish hook back side is pretty scary. If you want a scary knife, this is the one to get. I would not let your children near it though.
