Battling Blades is a family-owned business based in Deerfield, Illinois. We design, sell and customize swords, knives, axes, armor and related historical, fantasy and collectible products.

Our catalog includes longswords, katanas, Viking swords, gladius swords, rapiers, cutlasses, scimitars, axes, knives, armor, shields and custom-made products.

Many custom swords can be configured with 1095 high-carbon steel, Damascus steel, full-tang construction, sharpening, blade engraving and custom scabbards.

Engraving and Custom Artwork

Battling Blades offers personalization options on many products, including blade engraving, scabbard engraving, names, initials, dates, logos, symbols, custom artwork and UV printing where available.

Personalized and made-to-order items are produced according to the selected options and submitted customer details.

Inspired by historical sabers like the shamshir, dao, and kilij, this 30" curved sword fuses real-world combat geometry with high-fantasy aesthetics fit for a dragon-slayer.

At its core lies a battle-ready blade forged from 1095 high carbon steel, a time-honored material favored by traditional swordsmiths for its exceptional hardness, edge retention, and cutting power. Containing approximately 0.95% carbon, 1095 steel hardens more effectively than most other simple steels, making it ideal for blades that must hold a razor-sharp edge through rigorous use.

The sword is heat-treated and oil-quenched to achieve a Rockwell hardness rating typically between 56 and 58 HRC, striking the balance between edge strength and practical toughness. The blade's elegant curve and deep central fuller enhance balance, reduce weight, and allow for powerful draw cuts—echoing the performance of real-world cavalry sabers.
