Fabris Rapier – 20" in 1095 High Carbon Steel
The Fabris Rapier takes its name from Ridolfo Capo Ferro da Cagli and Salvator Fabris, masters of the Italian rapier tradition that defined civilian swordplay in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. During this period, the rapier evolved from a battlefield sidearm into a refined weapon of personal defense, dueling, and fencing, emphasizing precision, reach, and control over brute force.
Rapiers of this era were characterized by long, narrow blades optimized for thrusting, paired with protective hilts designed to safeguard the hand during close, technical exchanges. They were carried by gentlemen, soldiers, and fencing practitioners alike, serving as both a practical weapon and a symbol of education and status.
This 20-inch Fabris Rapier reflects those principles in a compact form. The slender blade profile emphasizes point control and linear alignment, drawing from the fencing philosophies taught in Italian schools of rapier combat. While reduced in length compared to full dueling rapiers, the proportions preserve the essential character of the weapon without attempting to replicate any single historical example.
Forged from 1095 high carbon steel, the blade offers excellent hardness, edge stability, and responsiveness—qualities long valued in functional blades. The hilt follows traditional rapier styling, with a protective guard that reinforces the sword’s civilian fencing heritage while maintaining a clean, disciplined appearance.
