Kopis Sword: A Blend of Ancient Artistry and Modern Craftsmanship
Historical Significance: The Kopis, a distinguished one-handed blade, traces its roots back to ancient Greece. Originally crafted for utilitarian purposes like cutting meat, slaughter, and animal sacrifice, this blade evolved over time into a formidable weapon. Its historical journey saw a transition in size from the early versions, which were over 26 inches long, to more compact forms as short as 19 inches. The unique forward curvature and the concave design of the blade, with a broadening shape near the tip, made it exceptionally efficient for delivering powerful, axe-like chops. The intelligently designed handle, curving inward, provided optimal hand protection during intense use. The Kopis's influential design is believed to have inspired the creation of the renowned Gurkha kukri from Nepal.
Blade Excellence: Crafted from premium 1095 steel, known for its high carbon content of 0.95%, this sword stands out in the realm of high carbon steel blades. This material choice ensures superior edge retention and remarkable hardness, typically ranging between 56-58 on the Rockwell Hardness Scale (HRC). While 1095 steel's high carbon content contributes to its exceptional hardness, it traditionally limits flexibility—a crucial attribute for withstanding high-impact forces. To counteract this, our Kopis swords undergo a meticulous clay tempering process. This technique involves strategically applying clay to the blade, insulating selected areas to allow slower cooling during quenching. The edge remains uncoated, preserving its innate sharpness, while the rest of the blade gains enhanced flexibility. This fusion of hardness and flexibility culminates in a blade that boasts an incredibly strong and sharp edge, optimized for both durability and performance.

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.
In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
