Acinaces Sword Description

The acinaces sword, or Scythian sword, or is a type of dagger or short sword found in the first millennium BCE in the eastern Mediterranean region. It was originally used by the Medes, Scythians, Persians and Caspii, and was eventually a primary weapon used by the Greeks. The acinaces, of Scythian origin, was made famous by the Persians, and rapidly spread throughout the ancient world. The Romans believed that this weapon originated with the Medes but archeological evidence suggests it originated as a Scythian weapon. The acinaces is started between 14-18 inches in length but increased in size under the Persian development to upward of 26ā€. It has a double edge with the hilt resembling a bollock dagger. The pommel of the Scythian sword may be split or of the "antenna" type. This pommel is the most traditional split style. The sword was suspended from a belt on the wearer's right side.

Blade Material

This Scythian sword is made from Pattern welded Damascus steel. Ā Pattern welded Damascus steel scimitar is a hard heat treated, folded carbon steel. Ā There are 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, making 352 layers. Ā The steel is the perfect combination of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. Ā High carbon Damascus steel must contain layers of high carbon steel. Ā The high carbon steel we use is 1095 steel which is the highest content carbon steel used in swords. Ā The combination of the steel layers creates a sword that is strong enough to hold a powerful edge while having the strength and flexibility to withstand powerful collisions. Ā This makes the perfect steel for swords. Ā The handle isĀ wood with Damascus steel bolsters. Ā It comes with a leather sheath. Ā

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.

In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.

Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.

Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.

In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.

Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
