Immerse yourself in the grandeur of medieval Europe with our Exquisite European Longsword, a testament to the fusion of historical mastery and contemporary craftsmanship. This weapon, renowned for its distinguished cruciform hilt and a straight double-edged blade, epitomizes the balance of strength and elegance characteristic of the late medieval and Renaissance periods, spanning from the 13th to the 17th centuries.

Our longsword, often referred to as the bastard sword in historical texts, is not merely a piece of weaponry but a homage to Europe's rich martial and cultural heritage. It measures a commanding 65 inches in total length. This handle, a work of art in itself, combines wood wrapped in supple leather with Damascus steel bolsters, offering both unparalleled comfort and visual appeal. The sword's aesthetic is completed by a meticulously crafted leather sheath, underscoring the attention to detail pervasive in its creation.

At the heart of this longsword is a blade forged from 1095 steel, selected for its high carbon content (.95%), ensuring extraordinary durability and superior edge retention. This steel, significantly harder than the more commonly used 1045 steel, achieves a Rockwell hardness of 56 to 58 HRC, promising a sharper and more enduring edge. Despite its inherent hardness, the blade undergoes a specialized clay tempering process, enhancing flexibility without compromising strength. By applying clay to specific regions of the blade before quenching, the spine cools slower than the edge, marrying a razor-sharp edge with increased flexibility to resist breakage upon impact.

Sword Specifications

  • Handle Material: Wood with Damascus Steel Bolsters
  • Overall Length: 65 inches
  • Rockwell Hardness: 56-58 HRC
  • Sheath: Handmade Leather
  • Blade Material: High Carbon 1095 Steel
  • Special Feature: Clay Temper Technique

Our Exquisite European Longsword transcends its role as a mere weapon; it is a legacy reborn for enthusiasts, collectors, and historical reenactors alike. It stands as a symbol of the skill, artistry, and valor that defined the era of knights and chivalry, offering you a tangible piece of history crafted with an eye for both authenticity and beauty.
