Step into the realm of medieval majesty with our meticulously forged longsword, a tribute to the celebrated European blades of the late medieval and Renaissance eras, approximately from 1350 to 1550. This weapon, often hailed as the 'bastard sword' during its heyday, traces its origins back to the 13th century and remains a symbol of historical warfare and artistry through to the 17th century.

Characteristics

  • Handle: Features a sturdy wood core wrapped in supple leather for an unmatched grip, beautifully accentuated with Damascus steel bolsters for an added touch of elegance.
  • Blade: A straight, double-edged marvel forged from the highest quality pattern-welded Damascus steel, showcasing both strength and beauty.
  • Sheath: A handmade leather sheath complements this masterpiece, providing protection and a sophisticated aesthetic appeal.

Key Specifications

  • Overall Length: 70 inches of striking presence.
  • Blade Material: Exclusively crafted from pattern-welded Damascus steel, comprising a blend of:
    • 6 pieces of Carbon Steel (#43 and #40).
    • 5 pieces of High Carbon Steel 1095.

Detailed Blade Craftsmanship

The blade's heart and soul lie in its pattern-welded Damascus steel construction. Through a meticulous process of heat treatment and folding, the blade acquires a layered carbon structure, unfolding as follows:

  • 1st Fold: 22 layers
  • 2nd Fold: 44 layers
  • 3rd Fold: 88 layers
  • 4th Fold: 176 layers
  • 5th Fold: 352 layers

This intricate folding process, combining high carbon steel (notably the 1095 variant, celebrated for its superior carbon content) with carbon steel, endows the sword with an exceptional edge retention and resilience. A Rockwell hardness of 56-58 HRC underscores its durability and longevity, promising a legacy piece that withstands the test of time.

Our longsword is not just a weapon; it is a piece of history, masterfully recreated for enthusiasts, collectors, and those who cherish the rich tapestry of medieval European craftsmanship and warfare.
