Greek Xiphos Sword: A Legacy of Ancient Warfare

Step into the annals of Greek history with the renowned Xiphos sword, emblematic of the fierce spirit and unparalleled craftsmanship of the ancient Greeks.

Signature Traits

  • Historical Roots: The Xiphos, an Iron Age marvel, is a double-edged straight short sword, traditionally wielded by the Greeks. Its typical blade length ranged between 20ā€ to 25ā€, striking a balance between agility and impact.
  • Design & Function: This sword's leaf-shaped design was not merely an aesthetic choice; it facilitated both slashing and thrusting maneuvers. While its existence can be traced back to the inception of swords, this leaf-shaped archetype was not exclusive to Greece and found its place in various European civilizations during the late Bronze Age.
  • Usage: The Xiphos came into play primarily in close combat scenarios, post the spear's utilization. Due to the ravages of time, very few authentic Xiphos swords have stood the test of time.

Craftsmanship Highlights

  • Blade: Made from resilient D2 steel, the blade promises durability and sharpness. This high carbon tool steel offers superior edge retention, making the sword not just a historical representation but also battle-ready.
  • Handle: Crafted from elegant rosewood, the handle ensures a sturdy grip. The D2 steel bolsters add both aesthetics and balance.
  • Dimensions: The sword boasts an overall length of 24", staying true to its historical counterparts.
  • Hardness: With a Rockwell hardness rating between 55-62 HRC, the sword strikes a balance between toughness and edge retention.
  • Protection: A robust leather sheath accompanies the sword, ensuring protection and facilitating easy carriage.

Greek Xiphos Sword: Dive deep into ancient Greek warfare with this 24" D2 Steel Short Sword. A perfect blend of history, design, and craftsmanship, awaiting enthusiasts and collectors alike.
