Unleash the spirit of the Roman legionnaire with this formidable 24-inch Gladius Sword, a meticulous reconstruction of the primary armament that dominated the battlefields of ancient Rome. The Latin word "gladius," synonymous with "sword," reflects the weapon’s intrinsic role in shaping history. This piece pays homage to the legendary gladius hispaniensis, the Hispanic Sword, adopted by Romans during their expansive conquests and famed for its superior craftsmanship.

Crafted with unparalleled attention to historical detail and martial efficacy, our gladius is forged from pattern-welded Damascus steel. This technique, involving 11 pieces of steel folded five times, yields an impressive 352 layers. The result is a blade of exceptional beauty and strength, echoing the multi-layered history it represents. Its Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC ensures it is not only a display piece but a functional sword, capable of the thrusts and cuts that were hallmarks of the Roman infantry's combat style.

With high carbon 1095 steel at its core, the highest carbon content steel used in sword making, our gladius is engineered for peak performance. This steel confers upon the blade the capacity to retain a keen edge and the resilience to withstand the rigors of reenactment combat.

The handle, crafted from wood and accented with brass bolsters, offers a sturdy grip, facilitating the precise maneuvers of a Roman soldier. The hilt design is both practical and historically evocative, grounding the wielder in the traditions of an ancient warrior.

Included with this gladius is a specially crafted leather sheath, a protective companion for your sword, whether you’re on the march or displaying it with pride.

Specifications:

  • Handle Material: Finely crafted wood with elegant brass bolsters
  • Overall Length: A versatile 24 inches, reflecting historical accuracy
  • Blade Material: Premium Damascus steel, boasting a striking 352-layer pattern
  • Hardness: Rockwell 55-56 HRC, blending finesse with formidable durability
  • Sheath: Tailored leather for protection and ease of carry

Embrace the legacy of the Roman legions with this Gladius Sword—a blend of history, artistry, and the martial prowess of an empire that stood the test of time.
