The Gladius, Latin for "sword," embodies the spirit of the Ancient Roman foot soldiers. As the primary weapon of these valiant men, its origin can be traced back to the swords of the early Greeks. During their conquests in the 3rd century BC, the Romans, recognizing the brilliance of the Celtiberians' blade designs, adopted a similar style, evolving it to become what's known as the gladius Hispaniensis or the Hispanic Sword.

Imagine the fierce Roman formations, javelins piercing the air, targeting enemy shields. Once formations were disrupted, soldiers would then step into the melee, their gladius in hand. Led by their shields and with a thrust of their sword, they'd engage their adversaries. Whether it was a swift cut, a heavy chop, or a precise thrust, the gladius was designed for it all.

Exquisite Blade Craftsmanship

Our Gladius pays homage to this legacy but introduces modern craftsmanship. The blade is forged from Pattern-welded Damascus steel, a magnificent canvas of 352 layers created from 11 pieces of steel folded five times. This heat-treated, folded carbon steel offers a harmonious balance of resilience and durability, evident from its Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC.

At the heart of this Damascus steel lies high carbon steel, specifically the renowned 1095 steel, celebrated for having the highest carbon content ideal for swords. When combined, these layers result in a blade formidable enough to retain a sharp edge, yet flexible enough to absorb the shocks from powerful collisions. This truly is the epitome of perfect sword steel.

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.

In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.

Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.

Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.

In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.

Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.

If your item arrives damaged, incorrect, or defective, contact us with your order number and photos so we can review the issue.
