Immerse yourself in history with our finely-crafted Arabian Scimitar Sword, an embodiment of Middle Eastern heritage. The Scimitar, an iconic backsword or sabre, boasts a distinctively curved blade, a design prevalent since the Ottoman era, with instances dating as far back as the 9th century. The term 'Scimitar' parallels the Arabic word 'saif', sharing roots with the Greek 'xiphos', a straight, double-edged sword from ancient times.

The Persian counterpart, known as the 'shamshir', surfaced in the 12th century, gaining widespread popularity by the early 16th century. Our Scimitar pays homage to this rich history, delivering a weapon of both practicality and aesthetic appeal.

Blade Material

Our Scimitar Sword is crafted from Pattern-welded Damascus steel, a material renowned for its strength, durability, and distinctive patterns. This hard, heat-treated, folded carbon steel comprises 11 pieces folded five times, yielding 352 layers. The high carbon Damascus steel incorporates layers of high carbon steel, with the 1095 steel variant being the most concentrated carbon steel used in swords.

The result is a sword that marries strength and flexibility, capable of maintaining a sharp edge and enduring high-impact collisions. With a Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC, it is the ideal steel for swords. The handle, crafted from wood, is complemented by Damascus steel bolsters, and the sword is accompanied by a leather sheath for safekeeping.

Super Sweet!

This scimitar blade has the great look of old world hand crafting. They have given it a hammered and aged look on a large area of the blade. On the grind, blood groove and the edge you see the beautiful Damascus pattern and all together give this sword a real Medieval look. The grip is a cable wrap over (I assume) wood. It gives the hand a great gripping surface and allows excellent control of the sword.
You will not be unhappy with this sword purchase and I will be returning here for more blades.
I would also like to thank Brian for all of his help.
