Wushu Jian – Damascus Steel Chinese Martial Arts Sword
The 40” Wushu Jian is a masterfully crafted Damascus steel straight sword, inspired by the elegant and fluid weapons used in Chinese martial arts and historical combat. Designed for speed, precision, and balance, this Jian is a tribute to the legendary swordsmanship of Wushu practitioners, scholars, and warriors throughout Chinese history.
A Blade of Grace and Power
The Jian (剑) is one of China’s most revered swords, often called the “Gentleman’s Blade” due to its balanced nature, requiring both strength and skill to wield. Used by Wushu martial artists, Tai Chi practitioners, and military officers, this sword was favored for its speed and precision in both offense and defense.
The 40-inch length provides extended reach while maintaining agility, making it ideal for fluid, sweeping cuts and rapid thrusts. Unlike heavier battlefield sabers, the Jian is designed for refined, calculated movements, often seen in the forms of Tai Chi, Kung Fu, and traditional Wushu training.
Hand-Forged Damascus Steel for Strength and Beauty
This Wushu Jian is forged from Damascus steel, featuring a high-layered construction for exceptional durability and a striking visual pattern. The distinct ripple effect across the blade is the result of a meticulous layering and folding process, ensuring both flexibility and cutting power.
The forging process includes:
- Blade Composition: 6 pieces of Carbon Steel (#43 and #40) + 5 pieces of High Carbon Steel 1095
-
Folding Process:
- 1st Fold: 11 x 2 = 22 layers
- 2nd Fold: 22 x 2 = 44 layers
- 3rd Fold: 44 x 2 = 88 layers
- 4th Fold: 88 x 2 = 176 layers
- 5th Fold: 176 x 2 = 352 layers
This layering technique enhances the sword’s flexibility, allowing it to flow effortlessly in Wushu and Tai Chi movements while maintaining strength for practical applications.

Shipping times refer to carrier transit time after an item ships. They do not include production time, custom work, engraving, etching, or other preparation time before shipment.
In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
