Forest Knife ā Damascus Steel
The Forest Knife is a survival blade of commanding size and presence. Measuring 27 inches overall, this oversized knife blurs the line between tool and weapon ā offering the chopping strength of a machete with the balance and precision of a short sword. Forged in Damascus steel, every blade is a masterpiece of layered craftsmanship, combining performance with artistry.
Damascus Steel Craftsmanship
The blade is made using the traditional method of folding and hammer-welding alternating layers of high-carbon and low-carbon steel. This process creates not only the flowing, organic patterns unique to each blade but also a perfect marriage of strength and flexibility.
The Forest Knifeās Damascus layering is achieved through multiple folds:
-
1st Fold: 22 layers
-
2nd Fold: 44 layers
-
3rd Fold: 88 layers
-
4th Fold: 176 layers
-
5th Fold: 352 layers
With each fold, the steel is refined, compacted, and strengthened. The final result is a blade with 352 distinct layers, offering both the edge retention of high-carbon steel and the resilience of softer layers that absorb shock. The swirling woodgrain patterns across the blade are the visible proof of this labor-intensive process ā no two knives are ever identical.
Blade Design
The Forest Knife features a wide, straight-edged blade with a clipped point, designed for both cutting power and thrusting capability. Its forward-weighted design makes it excel at heavy chopping, splitting, and clearing brush, while its keen edge ensures precision in finer tasks. At 20 inches of blade length, it is as much a weapon as it is a wilderness tool.
Handle & Guard
The full-tang construction ensures durability under stress. A polished hardwood handle is fitted securely with brass pins, offering a comfortable yet solid grip. The brass guard flares outward to protect the wielderās hand, giving both safety and an elegant contrast to the dark Damascus steel blade.
Historical & Practical Heritage
This design recalls the frontier knives and oversized Bowies carried by hunters, soldiers, and pioneers. Larger than a standard knife but lighter and faster than a sword, the Forest Knife was imagined as a blade that can serve in the camp, on the trail, or in defense. With its blend of historical styling and modern craftsmanship, it bridges past and present.

In-stock items typically ship within 1 to 4 business days, though this can occasionally take longer during high-volume periods or for items requiring extra handling. Engraving or etching on in-stock items may add 1 to 3 business days before shipment.
Custom, engraved, altered, made-to-order, backordered, and specialty items (including armor and chess sets) may require additional production time before they ship. Fully custom items typically take 4 to 8 weeks, but complex requests may take longer depending on the design, materials, approvals, and production requirements.
Once an item ships, delivery time depends on the shipping method, carrier, and destination. If you need an item by a specific date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the timeline is realistic.
In-stock items with no customizations can be returned free within 30 days, as long as they show no signs of use. Returns are handled through our return center.
Items that have any customization (such as engraving or etching) or that show signs of use cannot be returned. Custom and made-to-order items are produced specifically for your order and are not eligible for return.
