Unique Characteristics

  • Design & Purpose: An 18" ax with a 4" head, this piece is tailored for the art of throwing. Rooted in the traditions of the Middle Ages, the throwing ax, or tomahawk, follows an overhead throwing technique to achieve a characteristic end-over-end rotation in flight. Today, it finds prominence in sporting events, adding thrill to lumberjack competitions and ax-throwing challenges.
  • Craftsmanship: Forged from pattern-welded Damascus steel, the ax is a testament to both aesthetic elegance and functional prowess.

Construction Insights

  • Durability & Precision: Featuring a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC, the ax is constructed using 1095 steel, famed for its high carbon content. This ensures a robust edge, combined with the flexibility to endure rigorous use.
  • Handle: A wooden handle promises a firm grip, essential for the art of ax throwing.
  • Protection: Accompanied by a leather sheath, the ax promises safety during storage and transportation.
