26" Cutlass – The Iconic Naval Sabre

Historical Overview: A symbol of naval prowess, the cutlass is a robust, broad sabre recognized by its straight or mildly curved blade honed on the cutting edge. It carries with it the legacy of the Age of Sail, a time when naval supremacy was the cornerstone of empires. But perhaps more than its naval association, the cutlass is inextricably linked with pirates, those audacious sea rovers of yore. More than just a weapon for skirmishes, the cutlass was an instrument of terror in the hands of pirates. The mere act of a pirate clutching its hilt could induce surrender. Moreover, its versatility was showcased when pirates employed the flat side of the blade for coercing information.

Blade Craftsmanship:

  • Material: This particular cutlass boasts a blade forged from Pattern welded Damascus steel, characterized by its folded carbon steel design. Comprising 11 steel pieces folded repeatedly, the blade possesses 352 distinct layers.
  • Durability & Sharpness: With a Rockwell hardness of 55-56 HRC, the steel merges durability with hardness in a seamless dance. The choice of high carbon 1095 steel ensures that this blade, while boasting formidable sharpness, also has the tenacity to weather high-impact blows.
  • Aesthetics: The swirling patterns of Damascus steel give each cutlass a unique appearance, making it a collector's delight.

Sword Specifications:

  • Handle: Crafted from black pakka wood, known for its strength and moisture-resistant properties, ensuring a comfortable and secure grip.
  • Length: A compact 26", making it agile and easily maneuverable.
  • Sheath: A classic leather sheath, perfect for protection and a dash of traditional aesthetics.
  • Blade Material: Premium Damascus steel, with intricately detailed layering, which not only offers strength but also a touch of artistry.

Conclusion: The 26" Cutlass, with its historical lineage and exceptional craftsmanship, stands out as a blend of form and function. Whether you're drawn to its naval heritage, its association with pirate lore, or simply the remarkable Damascus blade, this sword is designed to impress. A fine choice for enthusiasts, collectors, and those with a penchant for maritime history, this cutlass promises to be an esteemed addition to any collection. Embrace the spirit of the sea, and the audacity of pirates, with this majestic saber sword.

A long Bowie Knife.

I absolutely love this blade. It's like a 20inch blade bowie about the size of James Bowies knife.

Excellent quality sword! Not a cutlass though

I was impressed to say the least when my sword finally arrived. After reading some reviews around the internet about battling blades I was worried I just blew $120 on an over sized kitchen knife. I was extremely relieved to find this wasnt the case at all! When my sword arrived, I could see the steel was of high quality, actually pattern welded, and SHARP!!! Overall a very beautiful, and practical sword.

The only gripe I have is that it isnt a cutlass at all, but actually more of a German messer than anything. However, this oversight doesn't detract from the blade's quality.
