Katana Sword – 39” | High Carbon 1095 Damascus Steel | Clay Tempered with Brass Bolsters
Embodying the spirit of the samurai, this 39-inch Katana pays homage to one of history’s most iconic and revered swords. Used by the samurai of ancient and feudal Japan, the katana is famed for its curved, single-edged blade, two-handed grip, and distinct guard, often considered by historians as one of the finest cutting weapons ever crafted.
This modern interpretation is forged from clay-tempered, high carbon 1095 Damascus steel, delivering both elegance and deadly performance. The brass bolsters and wooden handle complete a look that merges traditional craftsmanship with striking beauty.
Blade Material: 1095 High Carbon Steel – Clay Tempered
1095 steel is one of the hardest and sharpest steels used in bladesmithing, with a carbon content of 0.95%—far higher than the more common 1045 steel. Its Rockwell hardness of 56–58 HRC allows for exceptional edge retention. However, to enhance its flexibility and reduce brittleness, this blade is clay tempered—a traditional Japanese method where the spine is coated in clay during quenching, leaving the edge exposed. This creates a hard, sharp edge and a more flexible spine, improving durability and producing the famed hamon (temper line) seen in authentic katanas.
