Delve into the rich tapestry of medieval and Renaissance armory with the European Bastard Sword. Characterized by its distinct cruciform hilt, single-handed grip, and unwavering double-edged blade, this weapon encapsulates the bravery and nobility of the warriors of old. Recognized as the "longsword" during its prime, this weapon stands 29" tall, bolstered by a 6" handle that offers perfect equilibrium for those skilled enough to wield it.

Craftsmanship and Composition

  • Blade: The embodiment of sturdiness meets finesse, the blade is wrought from the esteemed pattern welded Damascus steel. The use of high carbon 1095 steel, revered for its unparalleled hardness, ensures the blade's resilience. Subjected to a rigorous heat treatment followed by five dedicated folds, the blade emerges with a staggering 352 layers. Such a procedure ensures the blade retains a razor-sharp edge, whilst simultaneously offering the flexibility to absorb impactful blows. Proudly, the blade wears its Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC as a badge of honor.

  • Handle: This sword’s handle is carved from solid wood, offering a comfortable yet firm grip. It’s adorned with Damascus steel bolsters, adding to its majestic appearance.

  • Sheath: Crafted from the finest leather, the accompanying sheath guarantees protection for the blade and a convenient means of transportation.

Awesome First Sword for Me

I am very satisfied with my purchase! Finally I feel like a Hobbit ready to put down any ork, goblin or giant spider.

I don't know much about swords, but the weight feels good and sharpening was very easy.
I stripped the oil it came in and recoated it to stop rust.
It is a bit uncomfortable to hold two handed, due to the sharp-cornered pommel and hand guard.

My next sword will be a true two-handed!

Good steel

I absolutely love this sword. Sharpening it has been a challenge which just proves how good the steel is. The collateral beauty of the blade from multiple layers of steel is breathtaking. I’m officially ready for the zombies.
