Designed for two-handed use, this majestic sword draws its lineage from the Viking Spatha, evolving into the knightly sword and later identified as the 'bastard sword' during the late medieval and Renaissance periods. By definition, a longsword must measure between 33"-43"; our Bastard Sword impressively stretches to 36" with a 30" blade and a 6" handle.
The handle, meticulously crafted from wood and encased in leather, is complemented by Damascus steel bolsters. Each sword is also accompanied by a handmade leather sheath for safekeeping.
Exquisite Blade Construction Our Norman Longsword is crafted from Pattern welded Damascus steel, a heat-treated, folded carbon steel known for its superior hardness and durability. The sword is formed from 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, resulting in a stunning 352 layers. With a Rockwell hardness rating of 55-56 HRC, the sword embodies the perfect balance of hardness and flexibility.
We utilize 1095 steel, known as the highest content carbon steel used in swords, providing a potent edge able to withstand powerful collisions. This combination creates a sword of unmatched strength, flexibility, and resilience.
