Immerse yourself in the rich history of European warfare with our Short Sword. Distinguished by its cruciform hilt and a straight, double-edged blade, this one-handed weapon is a compact yet powerful variant of the longsword. The Short Sword reigned supreme in the late Medieval and Renaissance periods (around 1350 to 1550), with its usage extending into the 13th and 17th centuries. This 28" sword is an homage to the might and practicality of these historical weapons.
Blade Construction
Our Short Sword is masterfully crafted from pattern-welded Damascus steel, a heat-treated, folded carbon steel known for its extreme hardness and resilience. With 11 pieces of steel folded five times, the blade boasts a remarkable 352 layers. This steel offers the perfect blend of hardness and durability, scoring a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. High carbon Damascus steel is required to have layers of high carbon steel, and we utilize 1095 steel, the highest carbon-content steel used in sword-making. This layered combination results in a blade that can maintain a razor-sharp edge, and possesses the strength and flexibility needed to withstand powerful impacts. The handle is crafted from wood, accentuated with brass bolsters for added durability. The sword is accompanied by a quality leather sheath.
